Nearly finished ‘Waiting for Sunrise’ by William Boyd. The long descriptions of people and places drew me in and the plot was intriguing as was the main character. A page turner with literary power. I can’t help wondering if this text had been presented at a contemporary Creative Writing class the author would have been advised to cut back on the descriptions. So what am I saying? I guess that if the character sees loads of detail in everything as he does in this novel, then elaborate descriptive passages are absolutely fine. Great book!
